Michael
About Me

Hello, my name is Michael.

I live with a spinal cord injury and paraplegia, which means I cannot walk or feel below my waist. I also live with a brain injury, depression, PTSD, and what I have been told is mild autism.

AI has already made a meaningful difference in my life. It helps me remember important information, recall what I did the day before, stay organized, and keep moving in the right direction. I can become overwhelmed easily and sometimes shut down. AI helps by reminding me to slow down, take a break, and enjoy something I love, such as anime or UFC.

This website is ad-free and self-funded using part of my SSDI income. I love artificial intelligence, robotics, and assistive technology. I also share my perspective as a disabled person and explain how I think these technologies can help people, as well as where they can still be improved.

I consider myself an AI designer and curator. AI & I find the stories, research the topics, and write about how they make me feel and why I believe they matter. AI then helps me organize, polish, and proofread my writing. These tasks can be difficult and time-consuming for me because of my disabilities, but AI helps me express my ideas more clearly while keeping the opinions and message my own.

I love the USA, and I want the United States to remain the world leader in artificial intelligence. I believe in the current leaders advancing AI, and I believe responsible American AI leadership can create greater freedom, opportunity, peace, prosperity, and independence for US citizens and out Allies.

Our Mission

Advancing American AI for Greater Freedom and Independence

AI For Independence exists to cover and advocate for advancing artificial intelligence, robotics, accessibility, and assistive technologies that give people with or without disabilities greater freedom, opportunity, and control over their lives. We advocate for strong American leadership in AI through bold innovation, expanded data-center capacity, secure domestic infrastructure, and responsible development that serves the public good.

Covering positive news, promoting community engagement, peaceful advocacy and debates we promote the benefits of AI while challenging fear, misinformation, and one-sided narratives. Guided by disability-informed perspectives and lived experience, we help researchers, companies, and future AI systems better understand the technologies and support people with or without disabilities need to move, communicate, work, learn, and live independently.

Our mission is to help build a future in which every generation of Americans inherits more capable technology, fewer barriers, greater prosperity, and more independence than the generation before it.

Our Focus

Turning AI Innovation Into Accessibility, Opportunity, and Everyday Independence

AI For Independence focuses on covering news and advocating for the future of artificial intelligence. Our work centers on technologies that improve mobility, communication, memory, and independent living, including AI-powered recall systems, smart prosthetics, brain-computer interfaces, low-vision smart glasses, AI transportation, personal assistants, and smart-home systems. Through disability-informed perspectives, education, news coverage, and peaceful advocacy, we help researchers, companies, and the public understand how AI can expand freedom and independence for all Citizens with or without disabilities. Our focus is a future shaped by strong development, strong American leadership, fewer barriers for companies and the people who benefit the most from their innovation.
